From Cali to London: What Migration Really Teaches You
Leaving your country changes more than your address. It changes the way you see home, identity, work, belonging and even yourself.
My journey began in Cali, Colombia. In 2001, I moved to Spain, and years later, in 2015, I arrived in London. Each place gave me something different: memories, challenges, opportunities and a new way of understanding the world.
Migration is often discussed through numbers, borders and politics. But behind every statistic there is a person adapting, learning, missing something, discovering something new and trying to build a life.
For me, migration has taught me that identity is not something you leave behind. It travels with you. You can build a new life without erasing where you came from.
London became an important part of my story. Croydon became the place where another chapter began and where CACHY’S URBAN was born.
The journey has not always been easy, but it has shaped the way I think, create and see people.
Maybe that is one of the greatest lessons of migration: you do not simply move from one place to another.
You become part of every place you have lived.

De Cali a Londres: lo que emigrar realmente te enseña
Salir de tu país cambia mucho más que tu dirección. Cambia la forma en que ves tu hogar, tu identidad, el trabajo, el sentido de pertenencia e incluso la manera en que te ves a ti mismo.
Mi historia comenzó en Cali, Colombia. En 2001 me mudé a España y, años después, en 2015, llegué a Londres. Cada lugar me dio algo diferente: recuerdos, desafíos, oportunidades y una nueva forma de entender el mundo.
La migración suele hablarse en términos de cifras, fronteras y política. Pero detrás de cada estadística hay una persona adaptándose, aprendiendo, echando cosas de menos, descubriendo algo nuevo y tratando de construir una vida.
Para mí, emigrar me ha enseñado que la identidad no es algo que dejas atrás. Viaja contigo. Puedes construir una nueva vida sin borrar de dónde vienes.
Londres se convirtió en una parte importante de mi historia. Croydon fue el lugar donde empezó otro capítulo y donde nació CACHY’S URBAN.
El camino no siempre ha sido fácil, pero ha marcado mi forma de pensar, crear y ver a las personas.
Tal vez esa sea una de las mayores lecciones de emigrar: no te limitas a pasar de un lugar a otro.
Te conviertes en parte de cada lugar en el que has vivido.
